Best Date to Get Pregnant
Here’s the short answer to this question: the best date to get pregnant is the day that you begin ovulation, or your egg is released. However, there are many other days that getting pregnant are quite possible for the healthy woman in her child-bearing years. The most common ways to determine these days involve fertility charting and gathering cervical mucus.
One of the most common ways women try to determine the best date to get pregnant is by using their menstrual cycle as a guide. You have probably heard that the average woman’s cycle lasts 28 days. However, the truth is more complicated – women can have cycles as short as 24 days, or as long as thirty-five.
Cycles will vary from woman to woman, and even month-to-month. This is why counting days is not quite as accurate as getting temperature data. As a result, if you are truly serious about getting pregnant, it would be in your best interest to use another, more accurate method – such as basal temperature charting, or gathering cervical mucus.
If you intend to track your fertility to find the best date to get pregnant, using a basal thermometer is recommended. It is much more accurate than an ordinary thermometer. The woman takes her temperature first thing in the morning, at about the same time every day, and records it.
On the day of ovulation, her body temperature will increase by around.5 degrees Fahrenheit. It will remain elevated for the remainder of ovulation, or about three days. Using this method, you cannot predict when your ovulation will occur without counting days, but it will tell you with very good accuracy if this is the specific day your ovulation will begin. And because this is the most fertile day, this is the best day to get pregnant.
One final way of tracking ovulation is by monitoring the physical properties of your cervical mucus. In the days prior to ovulating, production of mucus is low and the cervix is therefore on the dry side. But right before ovulation, the amount of available mucus increases, and changes consistency in a way that favors fertilization.
It will become stretchy and sticky (can be pulled between fingers) and may look similar to egg whites. If you decide to use this method to find the best date to get pregnant, the easiest way will be to simply use your finger or other sterile utensil to swab the inside of your cervix to gather mucus.
